brought the nfl back to baltimore is fighting for his life this morning. art modell is reportedly gravely ill at johns hopkins university hospital. modell gained attention in 1996 when he decided to move the cleveland browns to baltimore and eventually sold all but 1% of the ravens. the ravens team spokesman did not know modell's condition, but a cleveland television system is reporting that the 87-year-old's vital organs are failing. >>> the georgetown man suspected of killing his wife is competent to stand trial. psychiatrists at st. elizabeth's hospital say 48-year-old albricht muth has stopped eating but is competent enough to understand the charges. he is accused of killing viola drath last year and his trial is set for october. >>> a 12-year-old boy charged with second-degree murder will have to wait until october to learn his fate. he offered a plea to involuntary manslaughter charges in court. an alfred plea does not admit guilt but does concede there is enough evidence to convict. the boy's accused of beating his 2-year-old foster sister to death in july. the court will determine

in baltimore monday could have been a lot worse. investigators say the 15-year-old suspect robert wayne gladden jr. was unable to access his stepfather's gun collection because it was locked in a safe. they say they used his father's shotgun instead. gladden has been charged as an adult with attempted murder. the victim, daniel bowery remains in critical condition. his family is overwhelmed with the support they received. even lady gaga is expected to send him a gift. >>> a baltimore man is behind bars this morning accused of stealing a woman's car then breaking into her home. marie says she lost her keys while at maryland casino wednesday night. police say 50-year-old daniel miller found the keys, took her car and eventually drove to her house in edgewater. officers caught him walking out of her home with her laptop and jewelry. despite it being locked up, she's still on edge. >> never experienced it and so it's really been -- it's unsettling. i'm kind of walking around in circles. things i want to do, and i just am just -- very unsettled still. >> miller faces multiple charges, including burg

people in the car into custody. officers closed two sublanes near baltimore for the stop. official says they got a call about 7:00 this morning ha a passenger was in possession of a dangerous substance. his flight was already airborne on the way to dallas. authorities turned it around and armed officers pulled that passengers christopher shell from his seat for questioning. it became clear to investigators that shell may have been the victim of a prank on his 29th birthday. >> that this was a hoax, and a pretty nasty trick was played on a passenger, and it resulted in really a threat to all the passengers. incredibly foolish and irresponsible thing to do. at the bottom line, it's criminal. >> the hox will cost tens of thousands, not to mention the disruption in the lives of dozens of passengers. >>> airne seats are about to get even tighter. united airlines is installing what it calls slim-line seats to the airline can pack in a few more passengers. they've by 17 inches long, an inch shorter, slimmer backrests, but the airline says legroom is supposed to stay the same. at the create roo

in frederick. 83 in baltimore. 82 towards la plata. a very warm atmosphere. take a look at the heat intex. even at this hour even though we're not dealing with a whole lot of sunshine, 90 in dc. 96 toward frederick, soupy atmo. a tu stofew storms trying to ma their way toward the metro area down to the south and west. those should die out over the next couple of hours. what may not die out, though, are these showers down here toward the south. some very heavy rain down around roanoke right now. this is a boundary that looks like it's going to stay together and move right up the eastern portions of the blue ridge. we could see some fairly heavy rain overnight tonight. if you're thinking about going to the nationals game tonight, i think you're fine. will there be a brief shower? it's possible. but i think they're going to get the game in without any real problems. tomorrow we'll be watching out for the this back here. notice this line of showers and thunderstorms. this is actually a frontal boundary. this frontal boundary will help to sweep on through the area. that's what's going to help to giv
